Schools Engagement
South Yorkshire Police have a number of officers dedicated to working in schools. As part of the Safer Neighbourhood Teams they have responsibility mainly for secondary schools within their local area.
The schools police officers work alongside teachers in PSHE and citizenship lessons. They deliver important messages to young people, equipping them with the skills to make informed choices in a variety of situations in order to keep themselves safe and to avoid becoming involved in criminal activity.
Activities may include lessons around:
- alcohol and drugs
- anti-social behaviour
- crime and consequence
- weapons and gangs
